Sydney Fish Markets

The Sydney Fish Market is the centre of the commercial fish sales industry in Sydney. It is one of the largest fish markets in the world and the largest in the southern hemisphere. Within the Sydney Fish Markets are a wholesale fish market & a fresh seafood retail outlet. The wholesale fish markets hold auctions for seafood retailers around NSW. Sydney Fish Market has a working fishing port. This fishing port and fleet can be seen from the outside section next to the public use tables on the promenade. The markets are located in the suburb of Pyrmont in the waters of Blackwattle Bay next to Wentworth Park and the Anzac Bridge & opposite White Bay and close to Jubilee Park. The markets were established in 1945 by the government of New South Wales and became a privately owned company in 1994.
